Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille, was born on 4 January 1809. In honour of his invention, which enables blind people to read by touching dot patterns, we are celebrating Braille as one of the most important tools for inclusion and independence.

The ELSTERWERK is actively committed to inclusion and offers numerous educational programmes in the ElsterPark that contribute to the participation and integration of people with disabilities. For example, visitors to the ElsterPark can find information boards in Braille along the nature trail and there is a Braille menu for blind guests in the "BlauHaus" restaurant. This enables visually impaired and blind people to read the menu independently and make their own menu choices - an important step towards greater participation and independence.
